Acute Data: This material has not been tested for primary eye irritation potential, however on the basis of its high degree of alkalinity, it is regarded as corrosive to the eyes. When tested for skin corrosion/irritation potential according to OECD Guidelines Section 404,it produced dermal corrosion. Acute oral toxicity has not been tested, according to supplier MSDS (PQ Corp)

Section 5. – HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION
SYMPTOM/EFFECTS OR OVEREXPOSURE Corrosive to eyes, skin & digestive tract. Dust corrosive to respiratory tract. Causes skin irritation. High pH is harmful to aquatic life. Causes eye & skin burns. Causes burns to mouth, esophagus & stomach. No known chronic hazards.

FIRST AID:

EYES: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. If easy to do, remove contact lenses, if worn. Get medical attention immediately.

SKIN: Immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, while removing contaminated clothing & shoes. Get medical attention immediately. Wash clothing before reuse. Thoroughly clean shoes before reuse.

INHALATION: Move victim to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical attention.

INGESTION: DO NOT induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately. If victim is fully conscious, give a cupful of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person

STABILITY: This material is stable under conditions of normal use & storage.

INCOMPATIBLE MATERIALS: Generates heat when mixed with acid. May react with ammonium salt solutions, resulting in evolution of ammonia gas. Flammable hydrogen gas may be produced on contact with aluminum, tin, lead & zinc. Carbon monoxide gas may beproduced on contact with reducing sugars.

Section 7. – SPILL OR LEAK PROCEDURES
CLASSIFICATION: Unneutralized material is a RCRA Hazardous Waste because it exhibits the corrosive characteristic (pH greater than orequal to 12.5) as defined by EPA rules @ 40 CFR 261.22 (a)(1).

WASTE DISPOSAL METHOD: Neutralize and landfill solids in accordance with federal, state & local regulations. Flush neutral liquid to sewer inaccordance w/ federal, state & local regulations & permits.

RESPIRATORY: For symptoms of overexposure, wear a NIOSH-approved respirator for dusts & mists.

EYEWEAR: If potential for eye contact exists, wear chemical goggles.

CLOTHING/GLOVES: Wear chemical-resistant gloves and clothing as needed to prevent prolonged skin contact.

VENTILATION: Local exhaust may be necessary under some handling/use conditions. Specific needs should be addressed bysupervisory or health/safety

Store in a closed container in dry area. NOTE: If dissolving, always add this product slowly to water with constant stirring.
