Citrus Solvent

Those who have enjoyed painting their own homes, or have helped someone else know that it's fun but it's a lot of work. Painting also can introduce you to harsh chemicals in the process, and the fumes that come with it. Paint thinner is one of the most potent chemical solutions that negatively effects those with asthma and other breathing problems, not to mention that it causes headaches. There is now an alternative that is much safer, and is becoming more popular around the country. Citrus Solvent vs. Paint Thinner When it comes to using paint thinner, everyone knows that the smell can be horrific. Unless we know what the options are, we don't know what we can use as alternative to what we have used for years on end.

Citrus solvent is not the same as some of the cleaning products on the market, and it's important that everyone know the difference. While it is a true solvent, it works well as a degreaser and is the best natural alternative to using paint thinner. Citrus solvent comes from the natural extract of an orange which is hailed for its tremendous cleaning ability. The extract is powerful, with 98% of it coming from the orange peel itself and the remainder is water. This means only one thing; that when the Citrus solvent has been ingested that it is not going to be harmful as it would be if actual paint thinner were ingested.

This doesn't mean that you should drink the solvent when you run out of orange juice, but exercising caution is always a plus. There many things that the Citrus solvent can replace, but when it comes to painting it's a much healthier option, and you can go without wearing a mask. It cleans just as well as any other solvent or chemical cleaner, yet we use it so little with the idea that it won't work as well as something that has a strong smell to it. To think that is what we base the power of cleaning on is ludicrous and should have no bearing on our decision.

What's Really in Your Orange Juice? When using a juicer, the rind is crushed and expels large portion of extract out of the oranges rind. This is essentially what your Citrus solvent is, but it's just in a different form. Orange rinds are steamed later in the process which draws more extract from the rind, giving you a fair amount of solvent to work with. Over the past several years citrus has become better known for its ability to act as a solvent, and is being used more and more by those who are looking to avoid chemicals and other harsh toxins.
